FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT
Bernard Flythe, Professional Tubist
Star-Spangled Banner Soloist
​
Bernard H. Flythe joined the faculty at Kennesaw State University in 2007 and is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium. Prior to his appointment at KSU, Mr. Flythe served for three years as Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Austin Peay State University and for four years on the artist faculty at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. He has also held faculty positions at Emory University, the University of Georgia, the University of Toledo, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Michigan All State Program at Interlochen, the University of Michigan Summer Arts Institute, and the UNC-Greensboro Summer Music Camp.
He earned his master of music and his specialist in music degrees from the University of Michigan. Mr. Flythe’s principal tuba teachers include Fritz Kaenzig, Robert Leblanc, David Lewis, Wesley Jacobs, and Michael Sanders.

The Fulton County Schools Fine Arts Department supports more than 400 music, theatre arts, and visual arts teachers and 94,000 students within its K-12 programs.
Performing Arts instruction in the Fulton County Schools is standards-driven, sequential, substantive and comprehensive. Every elementary school student receives weekly art and music classes. Middle school students receive visual art and theatre as options for quarterly Connection courses and music students have year long band, orchestra and choral programs. At the high school level there are several fine arts elective choices that fulfill the GA Career Pathway requirements and culminate in five Advanced Placement courses.
